Polyacrylamide

We can make polyacrylamide emulsion by dispersion method or reverse-phase emulsion polymerization. And is a form of polyacrylamide liquid existence. It has the characteristics of a solid flocculant. It adsorbs the suspended solid particles in water by the polar groups in the molecular chain to form large flocs by inter-particle bridging or electrical neutralization.

The polyacrylamide emulsion has the advantages of a solid polyacrylamide flocculant. And it has the characteristics of enormous charge density selectivity, fast dissolution, low energy consumption, convenient storage, and use. Various fields such as domestic sewage, chemical wastewater, oilfield sewage, sludge dewatering, and paper-making use polyacrylamide emulsion widely.

What is polyacrylamide used for?

Polyacrylamide emulsion can coagulate or flocculate in liquid. This function makes it very useful in water treatment applications. Polyacrylamide emulsions increase water viscosity and are widely used in petroleum applications worldwide to enhance oil recovery.

Polyacrylamide emulsions are widely used in various domestic wastewater, chemical wastewater, oilfield wastewater, sludge dewatering treatment, paper making, etc. Polyacrylamide oil-in-water emulsions are also commonly used in municipal wastewater treatment, breweries, starch plants, food processing plants, and other wastewater treatment.

Although the polyacrylamide emulsion market was affected by the financial crisis in 2009, it gradually rebounded after 2011, which significantly promoted the development of various industries.

Is polyacrylamide toxic?

Polyacrylamide is not toxic because the body can excrete most of it quickly when it enters the human body, and the digestive tract can hardly absorb it. Most of the goods containing polyacrylamide also do not irritate the skin. Only some of its hydrolysate may have residual alkali, which can be irritating when repeatedly and for a long time in contact, but no significant harm.

Polyacrylamide is an ultra-high molecular polymer produced from acrylamide made from acrylonitrile. And its toxic questioning is generated from acrylamide. Acrylamide is poisonous, but after the polymerization reaction, polyacrylamide is not harmful.

There are limits to the dosage of polyacrylamide emulsions. There is no need to worry about the toxicity of polyacrylamide emulsions in wastewater treatment, sludge dewatering, and other applications.

What does polyacrylamide mean?

Polyacrylamide refers to a synthetic resin made by the polymerization of acrylamide.  In particular, it is a water-soluble polymer used to form or stabilize gels and as a thickening or clarifying agent.

Polyacrylamide has the water solubility of a polymer compound and the active acyl group on its main chain. Thus it has a wide range of applications in petroleum extraction, water treatment, textile printing and dyeing, paper making, mineral processing, coal washing, medicine, sugar making, breeding, building materials, agriculture, etc. It is an efficient product.

What is the structure of polyacrylamide?

Polyacrylamide is a linear polymer with a molecular weight between 3-25 million. The solid product is a white powder in appearance and colorless viscous colloid in a liquid state, easily soluble in water and almost insoluble in organic solvents.

Polyacrylamide is an organic polymer formed by acrylamide substituents, a simple, repetitive, linear chain structure. It can be changed to create highly structured, branched, and cross-linked variants.
